Memory of history
The signs from ancient times of our history still remain in the territory of Ismayilly situated in the bottom of Great Caucasus mountain. The stone tools- stone choppers, knifes, spear heads, arrow heads, home things founded in the dwelling places of region territory prove that, the people lived here from stone ages.
Tourism and Rest
Ismayilli region mainly situated in the south hang of Head Caucasus chain, high and middle maw, low upland of Ajinohur and Alazan Haftaran valley. Babadagh peak 3629m, Eseddagh 3471m, Qaragurgha 3345m, Shahnezerdagh 2874m and Qemche mountain 2139 m in Bas Suayiriji chain are the the highest peaks in the territory of the region.
REGION
Ismayilli region was formed in November, 1931 as region. The are is 2074 sq. km. The region is situated in 40035' and 41005' north longtitude, 47045' and 48030' east latitude. The population is 75017 persons (01.01.2002). It consists of 1 city (Ismayilli city) , 2 city type settlement (Lahij, Bashgal) and 106 villages. The regional center Ismayilly city got the city status at 14 January, 1967 (40047' north longitude, 48010' east latitude). Ismayilli region situated in the bottom of Great Caucasus is bordering with 6 administrative regions. It is surrounded with Quba region from north, Shamakhi region from north-east, Aghsu region from south-east, Kurdemir region from south, Goychay region from south-west and Qebele region from west and north-west.
