Agriculture
Ismayilli is situated in Upland Shirvan economy-geography zone. Administrative territory of Region is surrounded by 207372 hectares. 36323 hectares earth given to property is arable. 33038 hectares of this is under crop, and 2427 hectares is hayfield. The main employment of population is arable and cattle-breeding.Autumn sowing was held in 26949 hectares area for grain during the last year. There was sowed wheat in 19112 hectares of it and barely in 7837 hectares. 58857 tons yield was produced during yield gathering.
This year corn for grain is sowed in 87 hectares and fodder bean is sowed in 239 hectares. Pea sowing was sowed in totally 632.7 hectares 488,7 hectares more than in compare with last year. Bean was sowed in 271.2 ha, soya was sowed in 5 ha, and sowing of sunflower for grain was raised 58 ha and reached to 304 ha. 836 ha vegetable and 758 ha potatoes was sowed during last period.
Currently there are 49671 neat cattle in region and 49671 of them are cows and buffalos. The number of sheep-goat is 171536, and the number of pigs is 986. 2472 of neat cattle, 7109 of sheep-goat and 880 of pig falls to the share of industrial enterprises and other part to the share of owners and housekeeping. Meat production was 3020 tons during last period. Milk production was 17590 tons, wool production was 378 tons, egg production was 5463 thousands.Enterprise acting as poultry farm formerly was privatized by “Poultry farm” OJSC, there was done capital reconstruction works and works for developing broiler poultry in farm. Currently 30 thousand poultries are keeping in farm, and works for enhancing production power to 90 thousand are carrying.
The climate of region gives opportunity to farmers to develop vine-growing. This activity type is characteristic for Ismayilli. So, Ismayilli having 8000 ha vineyard in 1980 years produced 80 000 tons grapes. Development of vine-growing may be said stop after collapse of Soviet Union. Vine-growing field was restored in Ismayilli in last years. Especially developing of this field accelerated more in accordance with execution of “Social-economical development State Program in regions of Azerbaijan Republic” (2004-2008 years). Currently vineyard in region is 672 ha, and the bearing vineyard is 588 ha. Parallel with development of vine-growing field, wine-making develops also. So, after privatization of vine factory acting in Kurdmashy village formerly by “Ismayilli Wine-1” OJSC, production of factory was restored and began manufacturing of wine products.
